Our family business has been very successful as one of the leading German specialist brokers for Luftfahrt-Versicherungen employed. The consulting philosophy of our competent, committed and creative employees is to listen carefully at all times so that the individual customer situation is always taken into account in order to then work out a reliable and optimal insurance cover together. Claims settlement is carried out as quickly and unbureaucratically as possible in the interests of the customer.

In the aviation insurance market, we have an excellent market position with our network of experts on the national and international stage, which gives us detailed market knowledge. As a licensed Lloyd’s Broker, our branch in the United Kingdom is an important pillar, not only for the international insurance market, but also for competently solving any Brexit issue.

Bertil Grimme founded his first company in Hamburg as early as 1971. Since that time he has gained the experience that today is the foundation for our competence in brokering all insurance sectors relevant to aviation. Since then he has expanded the company internationally.

After extensive training and years of experience in the field of aircraft insurance, Bertil Grimme opened his first company in 1971, which he called BERTIL GRIMME, Aviation Insurance. The company was converted into a public limited company in 1984. Nevertheless, BGI BERTIL GRIMME AG Insurance Brokers is and will remain a family company where decisions are made without long official channels.

As part of our brokerage activities, we determine from the 10 German providers of aviation insurance currently available and – in some cases via GBJ Ltd. – The optimal insurance protection from well-known international insurers.

Grimme Butcher Jones Ltd. (GBJ) was founded in July 1988 as a joint venture between the two leading European aviation insurance brokers BERTIL GRIMME AG and NORMAN BUTCHER & JONES GROUP LIMITED, one of the largest and oldest private Lloyd’s of London brokers.

Grimme Butcher Jones Ltd., which has been 100% owned by Mr. Bertil Grimme since April 2002, is an insurance broker accredited by Lloyd’s and is entitled to use the title of “Lloyd’s Broker”. The aim of founding the company was to make the best possible use of the advantages that resulted from the liberalization of the European market. Since then, Grimme Butcher Jones Ltd. has developed. to one of the largest insurance brokers in the general European aviation industry in the London market, specifically at Lloyd’s of London. Further partners are located in Russia, Africa, Asia and the Middle East.
